House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland Review

Hello Readers,

House of Hollow is the kind of book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page. It’s eerie, it’s twisted, and it’s absolutely mesmerising. But fair warning: this story dives deep into some dark stuff, including blood, gore, violence, body horror, and death. If you’re into beautifully written nightmares, you’re in for a ride.

Imagine three sisters vanishing at the stroke of midnight, disappearing without a trace while their parents live through their worst nightmare. Then, just as mysteriously, they return. But something is different. Their hair and eyes have changed, an eerie scar now mark their throats, and an unsettling presence clings to them.

Fast forward ten years, and the Hollow sisters are captivating in a way that’s almost otherworldly. They’re beautiful, enchanting, and impossible to ignore. But beneath their polished exterior is something much darker. Where did they go that night? What really happened to them?

This book isn’t just a horror story it’s an experience. Krystal's writing is gorgeous and immersive, pulling you in with its dreamy, almost hypnotic quality before hitting you with something deeply unsettling. It’s the kind of book where reality starts to blur, where you question everything, and where the tension slowly builds until you feel like you can’t breathe.

I loved how Krystal weaved horror with femininity, creating something both delicate and disturbing. The imagery is stunning yet deeply unnerving, and just when you think you have a grip on what’s happening, she twists the knife a little deeper. The bond between the sisters is both beautiful and grotesque, and as the story unfolds, you start to wonder… how far would you go for family?

This is easily one of the weirdest books I’ve ever read, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s dark, it’s emotional, and it’ll leave you feeling unsettled in ways you never expected. If you love horror that goes beyond just blood and guts. If you love something that gets under your skin and refuses to leave then House of Hollow is a must-read. But be warned: once you step into this world, you might not come back the same.
