Black Doves (Netflix) Review

Hello Readers,
I love a good spy thriller, and Black Doves absolutely delivered. It's a darkly funny, fast-paced rollercoaster with tons of twists and complex characters that will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you're into thrilling spy dramas with unexpected turns and layered storytelling, this one’s a must-watch. Spoilers ahead.

Full of twists, turns, and surprises, the series grabs you right from the start and keeps you hooked. What I think makes it stand out though is the way it lets you connect with its characters. Sam and Helen, though both have dark pasts, become characters you can’t help but root for, they both want more out of life, even if they can never quite reach it. You can’t help but hope they’ll find redemption—despite their flaws.

The show doesn't waste time Black Doves dives straight into the action and keeps the pace fast throughout. But it’s not all about secrets and danger. The real core of the story is the friendship between Sam and Helen. Despite living in a world full of lies and betrayal, their loyalty to each other shines through. Whether it’s Sam helping Helen out of a tough spot or Helen standing by him when things get rough, their bond is what holds the story together.

To me it felt like the series was split into two parts: the first part sets up the mystery and gives us a glimpse of how the characters became spies, while the second part turns up the intensity as alliances shift. One thing I really enjoyed was discovering the Black Doves aren’t your typical spy group they’re not driven by patriotism or ideology, just pure profit. It was a nice little twist that gave the show a fresh feel.
