My Must-See Films of 2025

Hello Readers,
It’s been a while since I was this excited for upcoming films. 2025 is a huge year for me and films. There are so many incredible films set to release next year and yes, there are a fair few remakes on this list, but I’m still excited!

How to Train Your Dragon

I absolutely love the animated films of ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ and I’m thrilled to see that the franchise is getting a live-action remake. The live action trailer has me even more excited as everything looks amazing. I can’t wait to see more of the live-action Toothless. While the trailer is brief, it feels very faithful to the original animated one, which reassures me that our beloved story, characters, and the world of Berk will come to life beautifully. I’m excited to experience this new take.

Frankenstein

I know there are countless takes on Frankenstein out there, but Hades help me this film is being written and directed by Guillermo del Toro. What more could I ask for? The story follows Dr. Pretorius as he tracks down Frankenstein’s monster, who is believed to have perished in a fire forty years earlier, in order to continue Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s experiments. The cast looks incredible, and I can’t wait to see it.

The Bride

Not only is Frankenstein dusting off the cobwebs this year, but so is his bride. This film, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, brings a fresh, thrilling twist to the classic tale. Tagged on IMDB as a blend of Drama, Horror, Musical, and Romance. According to IMDB the film’s intriguing plot is as follows: In 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein seeks the help of Dr. Euphronius to create a companion. They bring to life a murdered woman as the Bride, leading to a complex web of romance, police interest, and radical social change.

Superman

I’ll be discussing the trailer for James Gunn’s Superman in this paragraph. If you haven’t seen it yet, you might want to skip ahead. I’m actually excited for a DC superhero movie for the first time in a while! Whoever cast Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor deserves a raise; I think he’s going to be perfect—though I might just be a Nicholas Hoult groupie! I had to watch the trailer twice because I totally lost my shit when we got to see Krypto. I also spotted a few other DC characters too. I can’t wait to see this, but I am a bit cautious given the DC movie curse.

28 Years Later

Watching ‘28 Days Later’ seemed like a rite of passage for us 90’s babies, and I can’t wait for the release of the final chapter. While the trailer has dropped, I am trying not to pay too much attention to it as I would like a few spoilers as possible. According to IMDB, the synopsis remains ‘Plot under wraps.’ This mysterious approach only adds to the excitement for the third film in the ‘28 Days Later’ franchise.
