Hello Readers,
So that’s it the second season of The Rings of Power (RoP) is done, and I have thoughts… Spoilers for season two!!! I am using a poster image I have found through google I do not own any rights and am using the image purely for future review purposes (Fair use under the copyright act sections 29 and 30 under use for a review).
Well one of my biggest gripes from season one was that this series is called rings of power, and we didn’t really get that and all we got of the forging was a whole fifteen minutes in the season finally. I am also slightly annoyed that the rings have been forged out of order but not as much as I was at the end of season one.
Adar was recast between season one and two and I like the new one more. I think Sam Hazeldine added a lot more to the character of Adar but that might also be that I think he had more screen time to work with.
It might be a bit picky, but it felt like the first couple of episodes were trying to course correct from season one. Having said that this season was pretty packed we had the story of Durin and his battles against his father, Galadriel and her pursuit of Sauron, and the journey of the Harfoots and the Stranger, which have all been carried on from season one.
However,
on top of this we have added story lined as there is a battle of wits for the
throne of NĂºmenor, the wants of Adar and the Orcs, sprinkled with the growing
tension of Sauron constructing the rings of power with Celebrimbor. It’s a lot.
There were moments during this season the series was on the right track as it does a good job of making each story hold its own. But I would be remiss if I ignored the full picture of how fast the storylines are passing. I found myself more invested in some storylines as there were a couple that had great pace that brought a level of excitement, intrigue, and emotions.
Then there was the fluff, and it went to a slower paced story,
and I just wanted to go back to the action and the bit I was excited for. It
was kind of like going up a roller coaster and it flattens out at the top and
then when it finally gets to the dip the original excitement has decreased.
