Hello Readers,
Thank you Rachel and Simon & Schuster Children for sending
me a copy of Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter for free in exchange for
an honest review. This book was recently released so I am going to try keep
this review as spoiler free as possible.
This is the second book in the not like the movies
series. I loved book one and couldn’t reply quick enough when I got an email
asking if I would like to review Nothing Like the Movies.
In this book we join Liz and Wes during their happily-ever-after.
Liz and Wes are no longer the sweet high schoolers we met
in book one; now, they are college students navigating the complexities of
adult life and facing real-world challenges. I thought it was refreshing that
we got to see a story address the challenges of maintaining romance after the
honeymoon phase.
I know it might sound miserable, but I hate it when books
are like and they lived happily-ever-after in the second book it kind of ruins
the suspension of disbelief for me and just annoys me but that’s just a me
problem. I loved seeing how Liz and Wes where navigate their relationship in
the real world.
I did have a slight reservations once I received the book
and that was how was I going to cope if the book got second book syndrome and
the characters were nothing like they were in book one. Making me question if I
would I still love them as much? Lynn soon put my worries at ease as Liz remained
her fun and rom-com-obsessed self, while Wes continues to be her grounding, slightly
sarcastic counterpart. I was also thankful their chemistry was just as engaging
as the first book.
I cant wait to see what Lynn comes up with next and I cant
wait to see if we join Liz and Wes on another adventure.
