Hello Readers,
Thank you, Murray Bailey, for
sending me a physical copy of The Killing Crew for free in exchange for an
honest review.
I am beyond excited to back be on an adventure with Mr
Carter. This is the second book in the Ash Carter prequel series that I have
read the first was
Cyprus Kiss. I think this is the 10th book I have been lucky
enough to read by Murray and I love to read his books because I know I'm in
safe hands and settling down to a great read.
Just like Cyprus Kiss this book focuses on Ash’s life as
a military investigator before his later move to Singapore. I might be bias but
once again Murray has effortlessly created a vivid and easy to visualise world
where he transports us as the reader into his world.
The Killing Crew is an excellent read as there were so
many great twists and turns that kept me guessing till the end. This book was
also a quick read and an instant page-turner that I didn’t want to put it down.
There are doubts cast on characters that increase the tension as you don’t know
who to trust. Even as the book nears its exciting conclusion Murray keeps you guessing.
I really enjoyed this book and how Murray managed to
effortless blend history with fiction within as everything was well-described
without bogging down the story. I also have a soft spot for how Murray writes
characters one minute, you’re falling in love with them and the next you’re
doubting their intentions. I honestly had no idea who was guilty in this book
as Murray kept me guessing.
It’s clear I have a little soft spot for Mr Carter, but I
adore him as a character and his fortitude when it comes to getting to truth of
the matter. He also has a slightly darker side when it comes to dealing with
cruelty, and violence of war.
