Bride by Ali Hazelwood Review

Hello Readers,

This book is a little smutty if that’s not your thing this book might not be for you. I will not be discussing the smut or spice levels as that’s all down to personal preference. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves slight enemies to lovers even if you glaze over the smut there is a brilliant romantic story held within these pages.

I have a confession dear Reader this is the first book I have read by Ali Hazelwood, and it was a buddy read with a friend. I am sorry to say that Ali was one of them authors that has been sitting on my TBR for a while and I need to move her up the TBR pile. This book’s trope is such a guilty pleasure of mine I love a good old a marriage of convenience story also in this book there is a slightly forbidden romance as our main characters are a vampyre and werewolf. This book was also full of wit and banter and there is the potential for a second book.

Misery is the daughter of one of the most powerful councilmembers in the vampire community, and her father has used her as a political pawn all her life. While Lowe is an Alpha Shifter doing everything, he can to protect his pack and to be a better leader than the previous Alpha. I loved them both so much, the tension between Lowe and Misery was perfect although there was a couple of times, I almost threw my book as I wanted to bang their heads together and see sense.

One of my favourite parts of this romance was that there was the recognition that Lowe and Misery are fundamentally very different people with very different lives and upbringings. Ali chose to show Lowe and Misery working through these differences and them being thoughtful and accommodating of each other. It added a brilliant layer to the book I wasn’t expecting and made the book have an element of reality.

I don’t know if I loved this book so much as I was in the Twilight-esque romances and was a huge fan and I really hope we get a second book.
